Joshua McClure Causes HP Profit Slip
Oops! Just one day after HP accepted my somewhat illicit order (stacked coupons totaling $400+ off a $1000 order for the ultimate travel notebook), HP announced a 17% drop in profits over last quarter. I didn’t realize my 40% super sneaky deal would cause so many to lose their jobs. To those who are now unemployed because of my fascination for loopholes I say, “It was for a good cause. Do not go silent into that good night, my friends. Now you too can become a new media consultant. Twitter shall sustain you!”
To HP, I say, “fix your website.” For those of you who didn’t catch my tweet about HP’s configure buttons not working with Google Chrome, now you know what I’m talking about. As a global ecommerce leader and trend setter, HP has no excuse to make it nearly impossible for someone using Chrome to make an online purchase. WebTrends reports Chrome at 2% of the browser market share. Tech heavy sites are seeing 7 – 10% visitor share for Chrome.
If HP is executing at the same level of effectiveness throughout their business model, it’s no wonder Intel is reporting light at the end of the tunnel while HP forecasts more gloom and doom.
