iPhone OS 4.0 Leak
Yesterday evening some of the features of the new iPhone OS 4.0 leaked in San Francisco. These are unconfirmed by Apple. However, they have a big announcement scheduled for January 27th (one week from today). This will likely be the details on the Apple Table “iTablet” and the new 4.0 version of the iPhone OS.
Some of the new iPhone OS features include:
- - Multi-touch gestures across the entire OS. This is a gift from the iTablet OS.
- - A few “new ways” to run apps in the background. This is a killer feature for app developers who want to send alerts to users. And, yet, another gift from the iTablet OS, most likely. This feature alone take a huge step towards making the iPhone more like a hand held personal computer.
- - Graphical and user interface changes to make navigation easier. Again, this is likely due to R&D invested in the iTablet interface.
- - These updates will only be available to the 3G and 3GS due to the increased CPU and memory requirements. However, if you are using the 3G you may want to wait for others to test it out before you upgrade. I have the 3G myself and it can slow down to a crawl even with the current OS. Added resource requirements sound like a potential nightmare to some.
- - It also appears that iPhone 4.0 OS will feature a new way to sync the contacts and calendar.
Combine the above news with Ion Audio’s full size iPhone keyboard announced at CES and you have a miniature iTablet residing in your iPhone.

The iType has its own battery and since it connects to the iPhone docking port with a space in which to sit the handset in landscape mode – it can charge the iPhone. from where I sit, this is a dream come true. These combine into a virtual Apple netbook.
